Pastoral News: 26 April 09
Who to Contact During Paul’s Sabbatical
During Paul’s sabbatical, the elders will be taking it in turns to be the main point of contact for a period of one week at a time. They will be at the door at the end of the service if you wish to speak to them. If you need to leave a message, please be aware that you can do so by leaving it at the church office (under the door if locked!) or by passing it to Catherine. The church answer phone will also be checked regularly.
Bridgebuilder Trust Climb The Eiger Challenge 2009
Bridgebuilder is holding a family fun day at the Caldecotte Centre on 16th May from 10.00am to 5.00pm. There will be a whole host of activities, including a Barbeque, Cocktail Bar, Open Mic Entertainment, Giant Games, Nail Bar, Face Painting, Bouncy Castles, Sports Activates and at the centre, the attempt to climb the equivalent of the North Face of the Eiger (160 ascents of the wall). Admission to the day is free so come when you can and go when you must. Please also sponsor the intrepid NPBC climbers - Bev Wright, Claire Scott, James Winship, Jonathan Evans, Josh Brown, Jonathan Winship and Keith Bedford.
If you are interested in performing in the Open Mic entertainment or would be willing to help on the day with stewarding, looking after Giant Games etc, please let Barbara or Keith Bedford know.
Next Church Meeting
Could members please note that the next church meeting is taking place on Tuesday 12th May and not 19th May has previously advertised.
Shortage of volunteers for Sunday mornings
Due to a severe depletion of regular helpers due to holidays in July and August it is proving difficult to find enough people to set up the church ready for worship. If this situation remains it may mean collecting a chair on your way into worship! To prevent this happening if you would be willing to assist please see Catherine or contact her in the church office/phone:612292/email:info@npbc.org.uk
Also required is an extra person to assist with the Amplification System on Sunday mornings. Please see David Evans, Roger or Andy Hall for details. (612292)
Interchurch Quiz League
The first round of the Interchurch Quiz League will take place on 15th May. If you' would like to take part, please let Keith & Barbara Bedford know. Subsequent rounds will be 26th June, 11th September, 23rd October and 4th December
Reaching Out!
During Paul Rosier's sabbatical, two Christian organisations have been invited to lead our Sunday morning worship service. They are Mission India represented by Tim Cutting on Sunday 10th May and Gideons International on Sunday 28th June.
Here are some very brief details:-
Mission India: India is home to 1028 billion people.43.5% are under 20 years of age and 1 in 3 adults cannot read or write. The need is great & Mission India is seeking to develop a 3 pronged programme of church planting, bible content & adult literacy plus children’s bible clubs. God is using these methods of outreach and people are responding to the Good News of Jesus in astonishing numbers.
Gideons International: Gideons provide copies of God's Word in the mainstreams of public life such as hotels, hospitals, and schools. By this means Gideons seek to reach the untold millions who have never heard the gospel and who normally would never enter a church. In this modern age of space travel, computers and nuclear power men and women from all walks of life are discovering that God's Word has a message that is relevant to the problems and pressures of the critical days in which we live.
Although we shall not be sponsoring either of these organisations as a Fellowship it was felt that individuals may appreciate the opportunity to offer practical support. A receptacle for this purpose will be available in the Tickford Room and the foyer on both the Sundays of 10th May and 28th June
Service Details 26/04/09
Good morning and a warm welcome to our worship which is led by one of our elders, Eric Eyre.
Flowers 26/04/09
The flowers today are given by the Bateman family in memory of their precious Spencer. He would have been 9 years old on Monday, April 27th ''We will always be grateful to our NPBC family for the loving kindnesses shown to us while there and especially during the loss of our little Spencer. May God bless all of you. With our Love, Chris, Lisa, Charlie, Ben, Caroline and Harry.”
Preaching Elsewhere 26/04/09
This morning we remember in prayer our members Keith Bedford & Bev Wright as they lead the service at Lavendon Chapel. Keith is also busy this afternoon leading the service at Paganell Grange. Sadly, this will be the last weekly Sunday service held there.
Service Details 03/05/09
Next Sunday 3rd May Steve Greenfield and Trevor Ransome lead our worship. The service will also include communion.
Monday Evening Homegroup
Please note the Monday evening homegroup is meeting this evening (Sunday) at 7.00pm at 5 Bromham Mill, Giffard Park, to enjoy food for body, soul and spirit!
News Of Our Church Magazine
Following the last 4-5 years of stewardship by Rod and Chris Sparkes, the Admin and Communications Committee have had a meeting with people interested in participating in a new team to re-launch the church magazine. We are delighted to tell you that this was a very positive meeting with lots of good ideas generated. The questionnaires filled in by you have been taken into account and the good ideas and volunteers have started to be recruited.
Our aim is to publish the new look magazine in September and revise it to a quarterly publication with items of interest for church members as well as for people in the local community who might not yet know Jesus. In order to achieve this, we need your articles, jokes, stories, testimonies, life histories, youth activities, news from reviews of Christian or other media, articles to help inform and outreach to non-Christians, so please either email them to us or hand them to one of us at church on Sunday mornings.
We are holding another meeting on Thursday 28th May at the home of Paul Manning in Willen at 8.00pm to bring all the volunteers together into the new editorial and production team. So if you haven’t told us already and would like to participate in any way, however small, please let us know ASAP.
A PRIZE of a box of chocolates is yours if you can come up with the winning new title of the magazine, so please get your thinking caps on and let us have your ideas by 20th May.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with the production of Junction 14. Again, please let us know if you are interested.
Paul Manning, Adrian King, Sue Richards, Cathy Hall.
