Pastoral News: 23 May 10

At the Church Meeting on Tuesday the church heard news of those who were seeking membership and witnessing to their faith in baptism, discussed a memorial and thanksgiving service for Adrian King, discussed a service for Boxing Day, received news of the church’s giving which is above budget for the year so far, heard of ongoing work to maintain the premises, and received reports from the church’s ministries and organisations.

The meeting also heard of the work done in pursuance of the development of a second ministry for the church, and then received a statement from Paul Rosier.

The meeting closed with prayer for the future.

Downsizing

Stephen & Alice Lewis continue to downsize and have items available free to fellowship members. Copies of the list are on the leaflet table today.

Greensand Ridge Challenge for Bridgebuilder

Last weekend Andy Brown and Keith Bedford attempted to walk the 40 miles of the Greensand Ridge in one day. They set off from Gamlingay at 06:22 and were blessed with a superb day for walking. After a small (3 mile) detour when they missed one of the way marks they reached the first main checkpoint around midday.

After topping up with food & water supplies they pressed on with Keith succumbing to badly blistered feet & a sock turning red and stopping at Millbrook (26.7 miles). Andy carried on and completed the route to Leighton Buzzard at 20:15.

Thank you to all who pledged sponsorship. They'll be collecting the money over the next few weeks.

Well done to Chris Holmwood and members of the BB Company section who successfully completed the Woburn to Stockgrove Park section.
