Pastoral News: 21 June 09

Marian and the family are very grateful for all the gifts given to support their chosen charity in memory of Chris. Willen Hospice has now received £1560. This is a tremendous total and we are so thankful for your generosity and care.

Church Picnic

Our thanks to Steve Greenfield for organising the picnic, treasure hunt and the weather so well last Sunday. It was enjoyed and appreciated by all who attended.

Men’s Curry Evening

Gentlemen, fancy a curry evening? The Men’s Breakfast team have booked the Kalkata Indian restaurant in Newport Pagnell for a 5 course banquet meal for just £8.99 each. The meal takes place this Thursday 25th June at 8.00pm. Please note the Kalkata serves only soft drinks but does permit wine and on this occasion only, beer/lager to be brought along and makes no charge for corkage.

There are only a few places left so you need to pass your name to Andrew Turner fast. How about bringing a non Christian friend along?

Saturday Sing

On Saturday 4th July there will be the opportunity to meet from 10am to 11.30am in the Tickford room to have a good old sing! We will sing some favourite hymns and songs - requests are welcome - as well as trying out some newer and less well known worship songs. Who knows, we may even bring in some parts and try a bit of harmony.

It is hoped that this will be the first of many 'Saturday Sings' and will give us the chance to worship with our voices as we learn and practice songs for use in Sunday services etc. All welcome. Refreshments at half-time.

London Women’s Convention

On Saturday 3rd October 2009 the London Women’s Convention takes place at ExCel in London. Full details of this event are available in the corridor. This year the event theme is “Unashamed” with seminars entitled “Unashamed of the Gospel”; “Unashamed to suffer for the Gospel”; “Testifying to the Power of the Gospel”; and “A Passion for the Gospel”. The aim of this year’s convention is to convince us of these truths and prepare us for “A Passion for Life”, the national evangelistic mission events in 2010.

Guest speakers include Di Warren from Sydney and Rico Tice, Associate Minister with responsibility for evangelism at All Souls Church, Langham Place, London.

If you plan to attend this year, please let Yvonne Wilkinson or Beth Ruston know as soon as possible so they can take advantage of a reduce ticket price for groups and co-ordinate travel plans.

To all on the Flower Rota

With refurbishment of the kitchen imminent it would be helpful if you have any personal vases in the kitchen cupboard to take them home with you. Likewise if you have any dishes or tins please reclaim them asap.

Drivers & Cardboard

The Bridgebuilder Trust needs another driver for the MOUSE Team. They have a few cars already but we could do with another (CRB'd) driver and car. Can anyone help between Monday 29th June and Thursday 9th July (inclusive)? Also, does anyone have any giant pieces of old cardboard box? The MOUSE Team need to create some whales, waves and boats. If you can help please call the Bridgebuilder office on 01908 270670 and speak to Rosie

Service Details 21/06/09

On Sunday 21st June our worship for Father’s Day is led by Steve Wood with help from the Bband.

In the evening at 7.00pm we have a service of communion and prayer in the chapel led by Bev Wright and Mary Buckell.

Preaching Elsewhere

This morning we remember in prayer our member Keith Bedford as he leads the service at Yardley Gobion URC this morning.

Service Details 28/06/09

On Sunday 28th June our service will be led by a team from The Gideons International. Although no gift will be made on behalf of the Fellowship it was felt that there may be some individuals who would wish to make a contribution towards the work of Gideons. Suitable receptacles for that purpose will be placed in both the Tickford room and the foyer after the service.
