Pastoral News: 19 July 09
We assure Jonathan Longhurst of our prayers and thoughts as he travels to Zambia on Friday 24th July for 3 weeks. Jonathan will be visiting Chitokoloki Mission Hospital and also Chavuma and Ololoma where he will be providing much needed dental treatment. These hospitals have no dental services and there is no doctor at Chavuma, just nurses. Jonathan will be taking vital supplies with him to enable him to provide the treatment whilst there. Please pray for his safe travel and protection of the items he will take.
Brigades’ Camp
This year’s camp is fast approaching so we pray that all the last minute preparations go smoothly. We also pray for a safe journey for the “advance party” who leave for Folkestone on Friday 24th July to set up camp for the campers who travel on Monday 27th July.
Wedding News
We send our best wishes to Derek McGregor as he marries Carol on 25th July in Scotland. Derek (son of Alison) worked alongside our caretaker for a short time.
Thank You to the Decorators
A big thank you goes to Andrew, David, Roger and Steve who decorated the offices in time for Paul’s return from his sabbatical leave. They look so much cleaner and fresher.
Church Meeting
Would church members please note that our next church member’s meeting is on Tuesday 21st July at 8.00pm in the Tickford Room. Join us as we consider God’s guidance to us as a church, and as we consider applications for membership, plans for the future, and hear reports of the work through these last two months.
The minutes of the previous church meeting are available for members to read this morning. They can be located in the green folder by the Stewards table.
Finance Report
A Finance Report to the end of June is to be brought to the Church Members' meeting on Tuesday. Copies of the report are available to members today. Please see Richard Beesley if you would like a copy.
Susan Caddy - our “ex” BMS Link Missionary
Most of us remember the happy times we had when Susan Caddy visited us on her home assignments and her interesting and informative prayer and news letters.
We have just received her latest letter which is available as you leave the service today. In it, she gives updates about her family, work and her decision for the immediate future. A letter has been sent to Susan giving the greetings of NPBC and assurances of our continued prayers and wishing her well in her new employment.
Climb The Eiger Challenge
At the BAFTAS on Thursday 9th July the BB Company section presented Chris Holmwood with a cheque for £602.34 from their participation in the Eiger Challenge. A magnificent effort by all. Josh Brown was also awarded the prize for the student in the 10 to 14 age group raising the most money. Josh's contribution was £266! In all folk from NPBC raised approximately £2100 of the £3200 received so far including employer contributions. Thank you for your support and encouragement.
If anyone has an idea for the 2010 Bridgebuilder Challenge to top this year’s, please let Keith know.

This morning our service is led by our minister Paul Rosier and Bev Wright, and includes the act of believers’ baptism, as Deborah Morris witnesses to her Christian faith in this way. We especially welcome her family and friends. Deborah and her family invite all their friends to share in a buffet lunch afterwards at their home, 66, Lakes Lane.
In the evening at 7.00pm in the chapel we have a “special” entitled “Indescribable” it’s a DVD presentation, along with short worship and concluding with the sharing of bread and wine. Suitable for all ages, come and join us for an hour of inspiration!
