Pastoral News: 18 October 09
We remember Elaine Hope who has undergone surgery at Milton Keynes General Hospital this week. We pray that she’ll recover quickly and be soon back on her feet.
Bridgebuilder Barn Dance
The annual Bridgebuilder Trust Barn Dance is at Lovat Hall on Saturday 21st November at 7:30pm with a new band this year, Sleeping Moggy. Tickets are £10 including a fish/chicken and chips supper with vegetarian option and can be ordered from Barbara or Keith Bedford or from the Bridgebuilder Office.
North-South Double for Willen Hospice
One month ago Trevor Ransome and Keith Bedford completed the Great North Run and next week will be on the streets of Portsmouth for the Great South Run for the second part of the North-South Great Run Challenge. They are raising money for Willen Hospice and you can still sponsor them at www.justgiving.com/KeithsGreatNorth-SouthRun. Alternatively you can see Trevor today to put your name on the sponsor forms. Thank you for your support for Willen Hospice.
Baptism and Belonging
We are planning a service of Believers’ Baptism for December and it may be that you have been thinking about taking this step of demonstrating your faith and belief. We are holding a short “Baptism and Belonging” course on two Tuesday evenings, the 27th October and 3rd November, and if you would like to come to that and explore what baptism is all about, then do please speak to Paul Rosier as soon as possible.
Men’s Night Out
The NPBC Men's Breakfast team have organised another tenpin bowling evening on Friday 6th November. Like last year we will meet at 8.00pm at Tenpin (Old Megabowl), Leisure Plaza, Milton Keynes to enjoy a leisurely game followed by a get together at Wetherspoons round the corner (201 Midsummer Boulevard). Please pay Jonathan Winship £5.75 as soon as possible so we can make an early booking.
Magazine Contributions
We are intending to include international (including Scotland, Ireland and Wales!) Christmas memories and customs etc in the Christmas edition of the Church magazine and would be grateful if any of our church family would send us their contributions. Please pass your contributions on to anyone on the magazine team, ie Sue Richards, Paul Manning or Mandy Pateman, via hard copy or e-mail.
Samaritan’s Purse – The power of a simple gift
As in previous years NPBC is to be a drop off point for shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse. The drop off dates for shoeboxes is from Sunday 1st November until Wednesday 19th November. If you would like to take part please take a leaflet giving suggestions of what gifts to place in your box. All boxes from this area will be going to Belarus.
Wanted: empty shoeboxes and shoebox fillers. All boxes are checked before leaving the UK to ensure they all contain similar items. Sometimes they are short of soap or toothpaste etc and these have to be bought. Therefore multiple packs of soap, pens, rubbers etc which can be used as fillers are very welcome. Please leave in the box provided in the foyer.
If you would be interested in helping to sort the boxes at Bedford from 2nd November please speak to Catherine Hall for further information.
Christmas Stall
Christmas is coming very fast, so come along and buy your cards, calendars and candles etc. Barbara will be having the stall on two Sundays only, 8th and 15th November. Any profit this year will go to Open Doors to send Bibles to persecuted Christians.
