Pastoral News: 17 May 09
We are sorry to hear that Liz Spruce has had a fall and fractured two bones in her left hand and will be in plaster for six weeks. We pray for her and Joyce at this difficult time.
Richard Beesley’s brother Peter has had a further episode in hospital after his heart valve surgery and although home now, remains weak and needs to rest and recuperate. We pray for Peter and the family as they care for him.
We remember especially those we know who are out of work and those seeking new jobs This is a difficult climate and we lovingly want to offer our prayerful support to them.
Many of our young people are currently taking exams and we would remember them as this can be a very stressful time.
Congratulations
Our congratulations and best wishes to Tim Rosier and Carly Houghton on the announcement of their engagement. We are delighted for them both and pray God's blessing on their future together.
Our congratulations also to David and Sarah Beesley who were married last weekend. We pray that they will know God’s blessing on their future together.
Finally, we send our congratulations to our Bethany friend Ann Goodwin who was 80 years on May 14th and Celia Stone who has a significant birthday next Monday.
Firm Foundation
Please remember our Amicus group in your prayers as they travel to Feldon Lodge over the bank holiday weekend. Please pray for good weather and for the young people that they will be challenged by what they see and hear over the weekend.
Women Need To Talk
Ladies, this is to give you early notice that that Fiona Castle is speaking at a Ladies Breakfast at Frosts Garden centre on 19th September. Tickets are £5.50 and we would ask that you let Mary Buckell know by the 31st May if you would like to go. It starts at 8.45 and finishes by 10.30am.
Appeal
Additional help is required on the following Sundays (July 26th, Aug. 23rd and 30th) to assist with setting up ready for worship or it really will mean collecting a chair on your way into worship. Please see Catherine (612292) if you would be able to help.
Request from Rhona
Rhona has got a little project on the go and requires our help for additional materials. She’s after packaging such as cereal boxes, t-bag boxes and kitchen roll holders. Rhona also requires plastic bottles and magazines. If you can help with any of these items, please pass them to Rhona. Thanks.
Who to Contact During Paul’s Sabbatical
During Paul’s sabbatical, the elders will be taking it in turns to be the main point of contact for a period of one week at a time. They will be at the door at the end of the service if you wish to speak to them. If you need to leave a message, please be aware that you can do so by leaving it at the church office (under the door if locked!) or by passing it to Catherine. The church answer phone will also be checked regularly.

Our Service this morning is led by John Shaw who continues with the “Who do you say that I am?” series. Today’s theme is “I am the resurrection and the Life”
John and his wife Marian normally worship at Loughton Baptist Church. They have been married for 40 years, have two grown up daughters, Helen & Julia plus three grandchildren. John was the secretary for eight of the nine years he served as a deacon at Loughton Baptist Church. More recently he has been acting as moderator at Quainton Baptist Church; relinquished only in January this year. We pray the Lord's blessing on both John and Marian as they come amongst us today.
This evening at 7.00pm Roy Freestone will lead a service of communion and prayer in the chapel. It would be good if as many as possible could join us for this time of blessing around the Lord's table.
