Pastoral News: 14 February 10

Starting Sunday, 14th February we are undertaking to read “The Purpose Driven Life” a chapter a day in the weeks leading up to Easter. There is a free bookmark and letter outlining how to do this, and we want to encourage you to do this if you can! If you do not have a copy of “The Purpose Driven Life” then Catherine Hall has copies available today.

Women’s World Day of Prayer 2010

We are hosting this year's Women’s World day of Prayer on Friday 5th March at 7.30pm. This service has been planned by the Christian women of Cameroon. Do come along and support this service. If you have any questions then please see either Barbara Bedford or Jenny Turner.

Pancakes 2010

It’s time for our annual Pancake Party! This year, Shrove Tuesday is on February 16th and pancakes are available between 18.30 and 20.00. Choose from toffee and marshmallow, cherry, lemon, banana, syrup, cream and ice cream! Also, the ‘Valletta’ returns for a second year.

The cost is still 60p per pancake. Any proceeds will once again go to Willen Hospice in memory of David Buckell. Last year with proceeds and donations we sent them £210.00

Believers’ Baptism

We are planning a service of believers’ baptism before Easter, and it may be that you’ve been thinking about expressing your Christian faith in this way. You will not be on your own! Do please speak to Paul if you would like to talk this over further.

Annual Church Meeting

Our Church’s Annual Meeting this year is on Tuesday the 9th March at 8.00pm, and includes all the usual items of business including election of Deacons and Elders. Your Vine Group leader has a letter for you outlining the responsibilities of both Deacons and Elders and listing those who are eligible for nomination. Do please make sure you get your copy of the letter as soon as possible. The meeting will also include items of ordinary business since we are combining our routine March Church Members meeting with this Annual Meeting.

Leadership elections

Please note that Lesley Christopher’s name was accidentally omitted from the list of those eligible to be nominated to the diaconate and eldership. Our apologies to Lesley.

Richard’s Swimathon

Richard Wilson has been entered as part of a team for the Rotary Club Sponsored Swimathon by the Disabled Swimming Club in Newport Pagnell. The event is scheduled for 27th February in the Middleton Pool. He is looking for sponsors, but will not be at NPBC church for a couple of Sundays. Please would anyone wishing to sponsor him send him an email

Replacement DP operator required

Due to the fact that Rod (and Chris) will be moving away (is anyone interested in a three bed roomed, link detached house?) there is a need to find a new person, of whatever age, to add to the team of DP operators. Training is available both with the operating system SongPro and, if required, PowerPoint. If you are interested in knowing more please contact Rod.

Prayer Triplets

“Again I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them.’ Matthew 18v 19,20.

NPBC’s prayer triplet scheme has been running for several years now, and many people in our fellowship belong to a triplet. A prayer triplet is a group of three who meet regularly to pray together. They meet at a mutually convenient time and place and each triplet decides for itself how often to get together and what prayer topics to cover. If you are already part of a triplet, or you meet regularly to pray with someone else please tell us so that we have an up to date record. If you are interested in joining a triplet let us know so we can link you with others. Thanks, Linda Row and Yvonne Higgins.

World Mission Link Missionaries – Alan & Anne Penn

Alan & Anne have now been in Nepal 3 years and have enjoyed the Nepali experience, both culturally and in the work they are involved in with the United Mission of Nepal – an organisation with which the Baptist Missionary Society is in partnership. They intended to commit themselves for the first 3 years of their retirement, but are now feeling they may stay longer. We shall be meeting them again in person in the Autumn, but for now please take a copy of their latest newsletter which updates us on all they are doing and gives pointers for praise and prayer.

X:Site MK

X:site MK is an event for 7-11 year olds (school years 3 to 6):

· Bring your mates
· Fun & games
· Live music

X:Site next meets on Saturday 13th March from 6.00 to 8.00pm at The Ridgeway Centre, Wolverton Mill.
