Pastoral News: 13 September 09

Barbara Liles, a former member of our Bethany centre, has died, and we remember her daughter Jean and the family at this time of sadness. The thanksgiving service for Barbara is at Crownhill Crematorium on Wednesday the 16th September at 10am.

We remember in our prayers Karen and Michael Dunn as they have travelled to Australia to be with their family on the death of their daughter-in-law.

International Lunch

Please join us on Sunday 27th September as we celebrate Harvest together with an “International Lunch“. The event will take place immediately after our morning worship and will be a great opportunity to enjoy fellowship with one another. Tickets are £2 for adults and £1 for the under 12’s and are available from Catherine Hall in the Church Office or from Janet Rosier

New Rotas available

The new Sunday rotas for October to January are available today. Thank you to those who have offered to help on Sunday mornings. We are in urgent need of extra volunteers (as we approach a busy time of the year) to help our caretaker Peter Croshaw clean the Main Hall after an event on the occasional Saturday night. Please see Catherine if you would like more information as to what is required.

Harvest Thanksgiving

You will have read from your harvest letter (please see your Vine Group Leader if you have not received yours) that gifts for the FOOD BANK in Milton Keynes will be received as part of our Harvest Thanksgiving service on Sunday 27th September. Please refer to the list inserted in this J14 as to what is suggested.

Thank you to those who have been leaving giving gifts of food in the yellow trug in the foyer during the past year. These have been regularly passed on to the Food Bank and are always appreciated.

Employment Opportunity (Part Time)

John Richards is employed by the Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus for half the week, and is developing his own Disability Awareness business called “Bridge The Gap” at other times. The Government, through an allowance, enables him to employ someone to undertake tasks which he cannot, due to visual impairment, e.g. driving, reading print, filing and some computer assistance.

Anyone interested in this role, please speak to John for further information.

Men's Breakfast

Gentleman, our next Men’s Breakfast is taking place on Saturday 26th September when we will be welcoming Phil Stocking from the Mission Aviation Fellowship. As ever, we will enjoy warm friendship, great food and all for slightly increased price of just £3. Please pass your name to Andrew Turner if you would like to attend.

Church Meeting

There is a Church Members Meeting on Tuesday 15th September at 8.00pm in the Tickford Room. The meeting will include a number of membership applications, pastoral news, reports on finance and the development of the premises. There will also be reports on the development of our work, and an opportunity to pray together for the ministries and organisations of NPBC. All members are strongly encouraged to attend.

The minutes of the July meeting are available for members to read today prior to the meeting (located in the green folder by the Stewards table). Copies (by email, hard copy or large print) are available upon request. Contact Catherine in the church office (618898) or email info@npbc.org.uk

Accommodation Needed

The son of a friend of Angela Gordon, age 22, requires accommodation for a year while studying for his Masters degree at Cranfield University between Oct 2009 and next May. He has a small motorbike / bicycle, so local travel is not a problem. Please contact Angela Gordon if you can help. Thanks.
