Pastoral News: 08 November 09
Alan Wearn returned home from hospital on Tuesday, and is making steady progress with his new knee. We pray for him and Kath as she tries to cope with the patient!
We also remember Curtis Ellmer who underwent an operation on his foot last week and is at home recovering – he’s getting a bit bored already, which is probably a good sign!
We receive news that Elaine Cox, a former member of ours who emigrated to Australia, is recovering from surgery, and we pray for her in these days as she recovers her strength.
Wanted: singers!!
…for our Community Carol evening on Sunday the 20th December. This year we are presenting “The Xcelsis Factor”, a presentation of the Christmas story with the prominent figures presenting themselves for stardom. The music is a mixture of the best of the last ten years’ musicals and pantomimes we have presented, and we need a chorus to provide the backing! We are looking for people who can hold a note (in tune!) and who are keen to participate in what will be a truly fun event. Rehearsals commence on Sunday 22nd. November at 4.00pm in the chapel, and please sign up on the notice on the Church Notice Board if you would like to take part. Previous experience is helpful but not essential! Please speak to Paul Rosier if you wish to know more.
Christmas Crossroads
The next issue of Crossroads will be appearing the first week of December, so if anyone has any Christmas event they would like to publicise, could you please let us have it by November 22nd at the latest and we will endeavour to include it. Many thanks. Crossroads Editorial Team.
New Pastoral Assistants
We are delighted that Alan and Chris Webb have agreed to serve the church as Pastoral Assistants, and they are specifically linked to their Vine Group and the homegroup that they lead. We are grateful to them for their commitment to this piece of ministry and welcome them on to the team of Pastoral Assistants.”
Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Appeal
Thank you to all who have left filled shoeboxes. Next Sunday 15th November is the last Sunday of the appeal as the boxes set off on their journey to Belarus on Thursday 19th.
Christmas Stall
Don’t forget, Barbara will be having the Christmas stall on 8th and 15th November. Any profit this year will go to Open Doors to send Bibles to persecuted Christians.
Church Members Meeting
Please note our next church members meeting takes place on Tuesday 17th November at 8.00pm. All members are encouraged to attend as able. The minutes of the September’s meeting are available for members to read today. They can be found in the green folder next to the Steward’s table.
Christmas Cracked
Christmas is approaching and so is Christmas Cracked. Once again we're in need of the tubes from kitchen rolls (sorry but no toilet rolls). Mary Buckell will be collecting them, so, if you can hand them to her in the next few weeks she will be grateful.
The BIANCA Project
Following the example of Alan and Chris Webb last Christmas, and the response to Paul’s commendation of this last Sunday morning, we are introducing the BIANCA project. The enclosed leaflet gives you all the information you need.
New Year’s Eve Party
All year you’ve been wondering, so today we are delighted to reveal that the theme for our 2009 New Year’s Eve party is “Bruce’s Big Night Out”. Yes indeed ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we are holding our very own tribute to Mr Bruce Forsyth. Actor, dancer, game show host, presenter, no single word can describe the legend that is Mr Bruce Forsyth CBE, OBE.
As always, Steve Greenfield and Roy Taylor need your help to make the evening a success. If you have any ideas for a game, quiz, song, food etc. then please let them know. More importantly they want to know if you’re prepared to get involved and help them create another enjoyable evening.
