Pastoral News: 05 July 09
The team from the local branch of Gideons were overwhelmed by the generosity of the fellowship. Your gifts amounted to £166-40, which will enable us to purchase 167 copies of New Testament & Psalms. That’s 167 opportunities to place God's life changing Word into the hands of both students in local schools and the residents of Woodhill Prison. Thank you so much for your help in this ministry.
Many of you have expressed a desire to be kept up to date with Gideon Scripture Distribution work in the local area. By giving your name to Christine or Trevor Ransome this will ensure you get a quarterly Gideon News Magazine as well as regular updates of local Gideon work.
Pudding Club
Calling all ladies. Yes it's that time again. To celebrate (or commiserate) the start of the long school summer holidays, we are having another Pudding Club. It will be at the home of Claire Scott on Saturday 18th July from 7.30pm onwards. The evening is free, but we would ask that you collect a ticket from Lisa Huckle, so we know how many are coming and whether you are bringing a pudding or something to drink. For further enquires, please contact Lisa (as Claire is away prior to the event).
Emergency Help Scheme
Please support the Emergency Help Scheme by enjoying a cream tea at our garden party on Saturday 11th July from 2.00pm to 5.00pm.
Volunteers from the churches of Newport Pagnell use their own cars to take people who have difficulty in getting to medical appointments. The scheme is very short of volunteers. If you felt you could help occasionally please contact Yvonne Higgins.
Volunteer Decorators Urgently Required
The two office ceilings have now been replaced. The offices were cleared for this purpose so it’s a great opportunity to paint the walls and put everything back in place before Paul returns from his sabbatical. It is hoped to commence painting on Monday - all equipment is provided. If you would be willing to help on Monday or any other day during the week please contact David Huckle or Catherine Hall.
An open invitation from Councillors Euan & Irene Henderson
It’s a great honour – and a joy to us both – to be Mayor and Mayoress of Milton Keynes. One of the most important events of our mayoral year is the Civic Service. So we have chosen to hold it in Newport Pagnell’s Parish Church of St. Peter and St Paul. It will be on Sunday 5th July at 4.00pm.
We very much hope that many Newport residents will join us for this very special occasion. No need to book or RSVP. Just turn up on the day. We look forward to seeing you there.
Request from a Former Member
Some of you may remember James Lerner who was a member at NPBC from 1988-1990. We’ve received an email from James this week. He is now living in North Wales and would be interested in making contact with anyone who may remember him.
BAFTA'S 2009
On Thursday 9th July we are hosting our annual BAFTA (Brigades' Awards For Their Achievements) evening. All are very welcome to come and see what our Brigades have been doing this year and to applaud their achievements.
