Pastoral News: 05 April 09

We pray for Joy Chilton and her family, not only in their continuing concern for Marvin, but as they also mourn the loss of the mother of Lilian, Joy's aunt and mother of Sue, who sadly died last year. In their ongoing grief we remember this family and pray the loving peace and presence of Jesus will be theirs.

We have been delighted to welcome new people to worship with us: Dory Chew and her two young sons Ryan and Ralph, Phil and Esther Price, Elaine O'Rourke, and Priscilla and Lewis Chinkwende. Welcome to you all!

· At 12:10 an open air act of worship with the churches of Newport Pagnell outside Boots at Market Hill.

· On Good Friday afternoon we are planning a recreational afternoon suitable for all the family for all who wish to join us in the sunshine for a walk and Easter fun...! See item elsewhere in this J14.

DIY Help

Does anyone in church have the time and skill in putting up a simple clothes rail and shelf in an alcove? I am hopeless at DIY. So if you can do this please contact me: Yvonne Wilkinson 617354. Tea/coffee/cake provided, and I will pay for the wood/brackets/rail of course!

Milton Keynes Interchurch Quiz League

The first round is being held mid May (date to be confirmed) with a further 4 or 5 rounds during the year. If anyone is interested in making up a team, please let Keith or Barbara Bedford know.

Good Friday Walk

What better way to reduce the effects of all those hot cross buns than a gentle afternoon stroll. Once again we shall be holding our Good Friday walk and we are all invited.
This year the starting point is the car park at Woughton on the Green – off the Newport Road. Turn south of Chaffron Way (H7) between Marlborough Street (V8) and Brickhill Street (V10). Remember there is no V9 south of the City.

We shall leave our meeting point at 2.30 and return between 4.00 and 4.30.The walk will be along hard surfaced paths which will not be far from the river or canal; it is therefore essential that children are supervised.

If you need further information speak to Richard Beesley.

Easter Cracked - Thank you!

We have just completed our Easter Cracked sessions with the year 6 children from Cedars, Giffard Park, Green Park, Portfields, Tickford Park and Willen Schools, as well as supporting the presentation in Olney Middle School. In total we have seen over 500 children and distributed the same number of Creme Eggs - thank you for your generosity.

The feedback has all been positive, with children and staff asking when Christmas Cracked is due! A big thank you to all who helped and supported the presentations, and to those who prayed for these events - a job well done!

Mary Magdalene

“Mary Magdalene” is a Roger Jones musical telling the story of Mary Magdelene and the dramatic changes wrought in her life through her encounters with Jesus. The musical is being performed by the Ampthill and District Churches Together choir at the Newport Pagnell United Reformed church on Saturday 25th April at 6.30pm.
