Pastoral News: 02 May 10
Maurice Curtis one of our elderly members is in MK Hospital having been taken ill on Monday with a suspected Heart attack and possible stroke. His condition is stable but he remains very poorly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Maurice and his family at this time.
We’re pleased to hear the good news that our travellers are now back home with us. Welcome home Paul, Janet & family and welcome home Andrew & Cynthia Howes. We continue to pray for those who are stranded abroad.
Rob O’Brien who serves with the RAF (Son of Sue O Brien and brother to Sam Buckell) and his wife Helen have been sent for duty to Afghanistan. We prayerfully remember them and also Susie Herd’s son who is also currently serving out there.
Breakfast At Frosts
Our next Men’s Breakfast will take place at Frosts Garden Centre, Woburn Sands on
Saturday 15th May at 8.45am
The speaker will be Rev. Robert Lamont from New Life Church, Leighton Buzzard
and Sovereign music. The talk is entitled “This is my Story, This is my song”.
If you wish to join us then please can you give your name to either Andrew Turner
or Steve Greenfield by Sunday 9th May at the latest. The cost is £5.50 (payable in advance). Also, if anyone requires transport this can be arranged.
“Thanks” from Trevor
Trevor Ransome is pleased to report that he both started, and finished, the 2010 Virgin London Marathon in the leisurely time of six and a half hours as befitting a man in his 70th year.
Although the run was a unique experience the most overwhelming part was your generosity in sponsoring him to the tune of £748.00. This will all be given directly to Willen Hospice. A great big marathon size thank you for all your support.
Wanted
An additional person is required to train to set up and run the personal amplification. If you want to know what is involved please talk to David Evans, Roger or Andy Hall.
CTNP/Christian Aid
On Saturday 8th May there will be a bookstall and coffee morning in aid of Christian Aid on behalf of CTNP. It will be from 9.30-12.30pm at the URC. Donations of books welcomed, offers of help gratefully received. Contact Jenny.
Carnival Preparations
CTNP are entering a float in the Newport Pagnell carnival procession on 10th July and volunteers are meeting in NPBC on the afternoon of Sunday 9th May between 2.00 and 5.00pm to begin the creation of the artwork for the back and sides of the float. If you think you may be able to help with this in any way do come along and join in – the more helpers the better! Please bring a paintbrush and a large jam jar if you can.
Collector’s Needed
Christian Aid Week this year is from 9th May to 15th May. Churches Together in Newport Pagnell (CTNP) are looking for helpers to distribute & collect envelopes for the Annesley Road area (around Ousedale School). If you would like to volunteer please contact the CTNP coordinator .Thank you.
Thank you from TEARFUND
Three months have passed since the Haiti earthquake and we need to say thank you. Because, as big as this disaster was, its proportions have been matched by the staggering and inspiring response of the UK church. Your generosity has been truly amazing. You’ve prayed for those affected and those responding, and you’ve given millions of pounds. You have fuelled our response, enabling us to reach out with hope and help.
We’ve produced a short film. It will show you some of the work you’ve made possible, and tell you some stories of hope from Haiti. Log onto: www.tearfund.org/news/Haiti.
